From the "The Heritage
Herald"
John 10 is the chapter of the Good Shepherd. In
verse 11 Jesus says, "I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd lays down
His life for the sheep." Verse 28, "I give unto them eternal life, and
they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of my hand."
In verse 10, "I am come that they may have life, and that they may have it
more abundantly."
This is the heart of our message and ministry as a
church. In Matt. 9:36, "Jesus seeing the people, felt compassion for
them because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a
shepherd." And there are many in our community who fit into that sad
category. We must share with them the good news that there is a Good
Shepherd who will give them eternal and abundant life. As we study,
learn, worship, and fellowship together, may it all amount to our being more
committed to make it known to others that there is real life in Jesus.
